Adaptive Computing Recognized for Cloud Patent Portfolio and Innovation

  • Leading HPC and Private Cloud Software Provider Honored for Securing 27 Patents with Utah Genius Award
  • Company Also Receives Honorable Mention at Utah Innovation Awards

PROVO, Utah (April 25, 2013) – Adaptive Computing, the largest provider of policy-based optimization software for High-Performance Computing (HPC) and private cloud environments, today announced it received a Utah Genius Award as the 18th top patent company in Utah. Adaptive Computing’s CTO and Founder, David Jackson also ranked 11th among individual patent owners in Utah. The company also received an honorable mention at the Utah Innovation Awards 2013 earlier this month.

The recognition builds on Adaptive Computing’s strong reputation as an intelligent workload management software provider. Adaptive Computing, which also received a Utah Genius Award in 2012, was issued and allowed 12 new patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in January 2013. This rapid cloud technology expansion raised the company’s total number of patent grants to 27 – one of the largest private cloud patent portfolios in existence.

“We are committed to pushing the cloud systems management software space forward through continual innovation, and these distinctions validate our efforts to do so,” said Robert Clyde, CEO of Adaptive Computing. “Our work in policy-based optimization uniquely positions us to be on the cutting edge of this market as it continues to grow.”

The Utah Genius Awards serve as the state’s prime program for recognizing and paying tribute to the creative people and companies that contribute heavily to the state’s growth by securing numerous patents and trademarks. Award recipients are selected based on objective statistics from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The Utah Innovation Awards is the state’s first and premier innovation awards program, recognizing innovations and the companies that create them.

“Our patent portfolio nearly doubled in size this year, enabling us to offer the best methods for achieving high utilization and flexibility in HPC and cloud systems,” said Jackson, to whom the company’s patents are issued. “Without our contributions, large-scale computing environments would be years behind where this industry stands today.”
