Pre-Sales Engineer

Job Summary

Adaptive Computing Enterprises is seeking to fill the position of Pre-Sales Engineer. Adaptive computing is headquartered in Provo, Utah; with offices in Naples, FL. Adaptive Computing enjoys a rock-solid industry reputation in High Performance Computing. We’ve built that reputation on our industry-leading Moab software technology. Moab® HPC Suite is a workload and resource orchestration platform that automates the scheduling, managing, monitoring, and reporting of HPC workloads on massive scale.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Present HPC solutions in a professional manner to customers in-person, via email, and by phone
  • Creating and presenting real-time demonstrations both in person and via webinars
  • Must be able to run both command-line centric and GUI-centric interfaces. Must be able to proficiently answer at a deep level all common High-Performance Computing (HPC) technical questions that arise in the demonstrations and evaluation process
  • Work with customers to determine customer needs and current situation. Develop proposed solutions supported by Adaptive Computing products. Estimate level of effort and timelines for proposed solutions. Effectively present solutions to customers and other co-workers
  • Train small and medium groups in the use of Adaptive Computing software and other technologies
  • Provide proof-of-concept evaluations for the customer, holding their hand through the process of installation through feature validation on test and production systems

Requirements of Education and Experience:

  • Experience in Linux scripting, systems design and networking
  • Experience in presenting complex technical topics to both technical and business audiences
  • Experience in presenting technical solutions to large groups and presenting in conference settings

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability and willingness to travel (Both domestically and internationally)
  • Experience with the standard HPC software stack and how HPC works
  • Ability to think quickly and precisely in a changing environment
  • Linux fluency and scripting
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced, changing environment; strong sense of urgency
  • Driven by seeing a customer find success

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with HPC schedulers (Moab, Torque, SLURM, LSF, PBSPro, SGE, etc)
  • HPC system administration
  • Strong familiarity with the HPC industry and customers
  • Familiarity with python programming language
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and how to debug network traffic (wireshark)
  • Familiarity with gdb, valgrind, autoconf, make, and other Linux development tools
  • Familiarity with RESTful Web Services, Mongodb, Postgres, Tomcat, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, SQL
  • Familiarity with standing up environments in public cloud offerings (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
