Pre-Sales Engineer – Naples, FL

Job Summary

Adaptive Computing is seeking to fill the position of PRE-SALES ENGINEER in the Naples, FL office. The Pre-sales Engineer will collaborate with the sales account team by acting as a technical expert in customer presentations. In addition, this individual will determine the technical requirements to meet client goals and act as liaison between the organization’s sales/business development and engineering groups. They will also respond to requests for information or requests for proposals from customers, supplying the technical details of proposed solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Present HPC solutions in a professional manner to customers in-person, via email,
    and by phone
  • Create and present real-time demonstrations both in person and via webinars
  • Must be able to run both command-line centric and GUI-centric interfaces. Must be able to proficiently answer, at a deep level, all common High-Performance Computing (HPC) technical questions that arise in the demonstrations and evaluation process
  • Work with customers to determine customer needs and current situation
  • Develop proposed solutions supported by Adaptive Computing products
  • Estimate level of effort and timelines for proposed solutions
  • Effectively present solutions to customers and the market
  • Coordinate the transition between pre-sales specifications and implementation engineering once contracts have been awarded

Requirements of Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field
  • Experience in software technical sales at the C-level
  • Experience in Linux scripting, systems design, software design theory and networking
  • Good understanding of infrastructure, operations and cloud computing
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability and willingness to travel (Both domestically and internationally)
  • Experience with the standard HPC software stack and how HPC works
  • Linux fluency and scripting
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced, changing environment

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with HPC schedulers
    (Moab, Torque, SLURM, LSF, PBSPro, SGE, etc)
  • HPC system administration
  • Cloud computing knowledge
  • Strong familiarity with the HPC industry and customers
  • Familiarity with python programming language
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and how to debug network traffic (wireshark)
  • Familiarity with gdb, valgrind, autoconf, make, and other Linux development tools
  • Familiarity with RESTful Web Services, Mongodb, Postgres, Tomcat, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, SQL
  • Familiarity with setting up environments in public cloud offerings (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Oracle)
