Holland Computing Center

Overview

The purpose of the center and, more specifically, Firefly is to provide a leading-edge computational resource to academic, government, and commercial researchers, as well as to scientists and students at the University of Nebraska and in the Midwest region of the United States.

Challenge

Find a holistic tool set that would be easy to implement, resolve the Linux kernel scalability issue, and allow Firefly to run both Windows and Linux operating systems concurrently, dynamically switching between the two.

Solution

Rocks+Moab, which incorporates Rocks+ technology from Clustercorp and Moab workload-management and scheduling software from Adaptive Computing.

Results

The need to settle on just one platform is now a thing of the past, and the Linux kernel scalability issues have been resolved.
