Curriculum Overview
This course is intended for administrators new to the Moab suite of products, and provides an overview of the major Moab concepts. While the course focuses on HPC concepts, much of the material covered is applicable in both HPC and cloud Moab implementations. This course forms the basis for all certification tracks. Attendees are expected to have an understanding of basic Linux administrative concepts and be proficient on a Linux command line.

Objects to Be Accomplished
At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to:

  • Explain Moab’s three-tier architecture
  • Install and configure Moab and TORQUE for a basic HPC system
  • Create and manage credentials, including enabling basic usage limits
  • Create and manage different types of reservations
  • Understand Moab’s priority system and the different elements that can be enabled
  • Create and use basic triggers and generic events
  • Add additional information into Moab via a native resource manager
  • Understand how Moab can gather information from different sources
  • Run basic diagnostic command and understand their output
